Teaching Philosophy.
My goal as a teacher is to help students learn more about themselves and build confidence, so that in any situation they face, they can trust in their ability to deliver their best work. I provide them with both technical and conceptual skills to support their growth and give them the encouragement they need to take bold and deliberate steps in life and in art.I believe that an art education develops students into creative problem solvers and critical thinkers who can succeed in all walks of life after leaving school. I emphasize traditional craft skills in glass, metal, and wood, while also introducing new technologies such as 3-D printing, CNC milling, water-jet cutting, sound, and video. My teaching fosters dialogue between sculpture, design, and craft, encouraging students to see connections across disciplines and to situate their work within broader creative contexts.
